the govt grade fiasco
So I had a rough day concerning grades yesterday.
I've been checking the Mason website to see if my final grades have been posted lately, and all of them were finally posted yesterday morning.
So in my Educ 300 class I got an A, which isn't surprising at all. I knew I'd get that. In my Ethics class I got a B-, which is pretty nice, because that class was hard. So I'm happy with that (on the first exam I got a C, so I obviously improved with my final...somewhat.) In my New Century class, the Childhood Images and Experiences one, I got an A, which is super because the class is worth 6 credits. Getting A's in NCC classes is pretty easy, too, I'd be upset if I hadn't gotten an A.
And then I saw my GOVT 103 grade. An F. I almost crapped my pants. An F?! I started freaking out. I immediately emailed my class's TA, trying to find out if I could in any way see my exam or something, trying to determine how I went from a 78%, which I know isn't that stellar in the first place, to an F.
So there's this other website my Prof uses that lists all of the grades from the class (tests, papers, stuff like that.) So this is how shit was graded.
Midterm #1: 37 / 50
Midterm #2: 35 / 50
Midterm #2 Extra Points: 3
Paper: 20 / 20
Final Exam: 50 / 80
Final Exam Extra Points: 3
Making my total in the class 148 / 200.
A 74%
So how the fuck did I get an F in the class? After I figured all of this out I emailed my Prof and TA again, stating I was really confused and maybe I was just doing something wrong. Could someone please try to explain to me what happened to my grade, stuff like that.
So I'm all worried all day, I cannot have an F...its ridiculous.
I got an email from my Prof last night. Short and sweet. He said it could very well be his mistake, he could've looked at the wrong line on the spreadsheet or accidentally skipped my name, which would automatically give me an F. He'll check back when campus opens back up (which is January 3).
::sigh::
What an idiot.
And the funny thing is, my cumulative grade is still a 3.25 (for the semester its 2.93) all because of that beautiful 6 credit A I got in NCC. But still. When I could have a 3.2 or something for the semester and a 3.4 or something cumulative(ly?), that'd be a lot nicer way for me to spend my Christmas Break.
I'll let you know how it unfolds...
